We are asking that people not give us presents, there aren’t particular things we need. What we would like is for people to help out on the day, and there are a number of ways where we would really appreciate people’s assistance or contributions. The descriptions below give a sense of what’s needed, and here is a link to a Doodle poll where you can volunteer:

Decorations
We will be getting the Hall ready from 1.00pm on the day, and if you can lend material, or would like to help, we’d be happy to have you there.
Transport
There is limited parking at Harberton Village Hall. If you can offer a lift on the day to and from Totnes, or further afield, please organise car shares where possible.
photographs
Please do take photographs on the day, and we will get in touch to collect and share these after the event. We will also set up a whole group photograph at some point during the afternoon.
Ceremony
We have asked a friend to conduct the Ceremony that is at the centre of our celebration. There will be time during this for toasts, speeches, and words of support or congratulation or reminiscence that you feel are appropriate or you want to express. If you know you would like to say something, please let us know beforehand (but there will also be an opportunity to participate on the day).
We’d like three or four volunteers to help serve drinks for the toasts.
Food and Drink
We will provide tea and cake to welcome you, and something sparkling to charge glasses for toasts during the Partnership Ceremony. We will also provide some sweet things for afters. Please bring anything else you want to drink.
We invite you all to bring some savoury food to share. A curry, or other dish, chutneys, breads, etc. that will go with Indian and South Asian food. Please bring a container to take any leftovers home again afterwards.
There are kitchen facilities at the hall so we would like a few people to take on the task of receiving food, and heating those things that need it. We would also like a few other people who could help serve the food.
Clear-up
We finish at 10.00pm, and we will need some help clearing up and packing away the Hall at the end of the evening.
